Dear Parents
As-Salamualikum –wa rahmathullahi –wa barakatahu
I would like to take the opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Haleema Sagheer and I am honored to be your child’s math teacher. This is my third year of teaching in this organization and I am so excited to be here.
I am looking forward to working with you and your child in reaching her full potential. We will have many wonderful experiences and opportunities to learn and grow in the days ahead.
I realize that teaching your child is a privilege, as well as a tremendous responsibility. I will do my best this year to ensure that each student has a motivating and safe learning experience in the classroom. However, I cannot do this alone: I need your help. We both need to be partners in the learning process. I need each of you to encourage your child at home by helping to ensure that they have completed their assignments, and help them study for quizzes, if necessary.
Each student has a "Did I Follow Class Rules" log inside their daily folder. Each time a student violates a class or school rule, they will mark their folder on that date. This will help to determine the behavior grade for each grading period. I will maintain a record of negative student behavior.
Homework will require some parental involvement at this level. Your cooperation is essential in developing a positive homework habit. First and foremost, you can encourage your child by showing interest and demonstrating helpful attitudes toward homework.
Students will receive a home-work assignment book just as in the previous years. Students will be responsible for bringing their assignment book to & from school on a daily basis. Homework will be written, so that parents know what needs to be completed. Upon completion of the work, I ask that parents verify it by initialing the planner on a daily basis. You may choose to initial each individual task or initial/sign at the bottom of the column. Sometimes I may communicate through this book, I ask that parent after seeing my note make an initial, so that I know that parent has seen it.
Attendance is more important at this level. It is important that your child attends each day. However, I do realize that sickness, doctor appointments do occur. If a student to take a leave , I appreciate that the parents send a leave note with the child before or after the day the child will be absent. Leave note is must.
Students must carry a scientific calculator, geometry box, a pencil, ruler, an eraser to the class every day.
Hope to meet you in the school open house.
I look forward to work with your child in the positive and peaceful environment.
Jazakallah khair, Math teacher.
