6th Grade Newsletter:

Asalaamu’Alaikum,
We pray that this letter reaches you in the best of health and highest of Imaan, Ameen. Insha Allah, the following topics will be covered in the month of February 2012.
Math- Students will learn about theoretical probability. Students will also learn about estimating percents, finding percents, predicting using percents and percents greater than 100%
Please note there will be a weekly test EVERY WEDNESDAY in math.
Science– This month students will learn about forces, friction, and gravity. They will also analyze Newton's second law of motion.
Please note there will be a weekly test EVERY MONDAY in science.
Literature– Students will interpret, and analyze friction and non-friction. They will use various reading strategies and vocabulary skills aid comprehension. They will understand and analyze various literary genres.
Please note there will be a weekly test EVERY Thursday in Literature.
Language Arts– Students will produce writing that displays fours, support, and organization, and will demonstrate knowledge of written English conversation; grammar, spelling, and punctuation as well.
Please note there will be a weekly test EVERY Thursday in Language Arts.
Social Studies– The students will be learning about the Earth's atmosphere. They will dicuss the water cycle and learn more about Earth's oceans and weather.
Please note there will be a weekly test EVERY MONDAY in Social-Studies.
Arts and Crafts- Students will continue
working on the knitting process.
Tajweed: Student will be learning waqf symbols, and the rules of raa.
Test:
Tuesday, February 28– rules on waqf symbols and rules of raa.
Wednesday, February 22– Surah Naziyat ayats 31-46
Aqaaid: Students will learn about The Righteous khulafah, and respecting the teachings of Islam.
Test:
Friday, February 24– lessons 9&10
Minhaj ul Arabia : Students will be using prepositions along with single expressions based on previous lessons.

Wednesday, February 8– lesson 16
Wednesday February 15– lesson 17
Thursday February 23– lesson 18
Fiqh:Students will learn the different rulings regarding laylatul qadr, and sadqatul fitr.

Monday, February 27– lessons 13&14
Akhlaaq: Students will learn general guidelines for both genders, adaab of visiting the sick, and sunnats pertaining to the sick.

Tuesday, February 28 lessons 5-8
Dua:Students will memorize the dua when visiting the sick, and when seeing another muslim happy.

Welcome to 6th Grade
Asaalaamualaikum!
It is hard to believe that one more year has gone by and a new one is starting. If you are a returning student, Insha’Allah you will find this year to be even better than last year as we at Guidance constantly strive to improve standards and curriculum. If you are a new student, welcome to Guidance Educational Academy where learning experience is nurtured in an Islamic environment.
My name is Amina Lakhi and I am looking forward to be your child’s Islamic Studies teacher this year. I have high expectations for your child and I will do all that I can to help your child achieve those expectations. I am asking for your help to maintain those expectations by checking with your son/daughter periodically to make sure that his/her work is being done. Your support will not only make your child more successful in school this year but will instill good study habits that will last a lifetime. I hope to make this academic year, an educational as well as a fun-filled year for the students.
My name is Ifat Deriwala and I will be your child’s Math teacher.
This will be my first year at Guidance Education Academy. I am a recent graduate of DeVry University
in technical management and I have also done associate in early child care & development. I consider
myself very fortunate and privileged to be among such a professional faculties.
I would like to take the opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Lubna Tazeen, and I’m honored to be your child’s Language Arts and Social Studies teacher. I am a graduate in Education and post graduate with Literature and Political Science as my major subjects. This is my third year of teaching at Guidance. I am very excited and look forward to working with you and your child in reaching her full potential.
Let me take the opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Sadia Shafique. Inshallah I will be teaching Urdu and arts and crafts. I am really excited about the opportunity to teach the arts class this year. This is my second year teaching at Guidance Educational Academy. I have a bachelor’s in economics; home economics. I am looking forward to a productive school year.
Assalamu’alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakaatuhu! My name is Safa Subhani and I will Insha’Allah be your child’s Tajweed teacher this year. Alhamdulillah, Allah (SWT), out of His infinite grace and mercy, has blessed me with the remarkable opportunity of completing my Hifz-ul-Qur’an at Darul Uloom Chicago, which was a breathtaking experience that was beyond words.
