5th Grade Newsletter:

Assalaamalaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu!
Alhamdulillah, we are done with first quarter and ready to move on to second quarter. Insha Allah all students will work even harder towards their academic goals. May Allah give them success, Aamin. We look forward to accomplishing all our goals as planned for this academic year. Your cooperation is highly appreciated. Here is the overview of the lessons to be taught this month, Insha-Allah.
Literature/LA: Students will read, interpret and analyze essays in non-fiction, determine author’s purpose and identify main idea. Students will paraphrase poetry as well. In LA, they will write a comparative piece, and continue learning more about nouns. Insha Alllah, students will demonstrate command of the conventions of Standard English grammar and usage when writing or speaking. * Literature/LA test will be every Thursday.
Math:This month students will learn about reading and writing decimals, comparing and ordering decimals, understanding place values, adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing decimals and estimating decimal products. They will also learn about writing addition and subtraction equations, and inverse operations to solve addition and subtraction equations. *Math test will be every Wednesday.
Science:Students will be studying chapter 4: Ecosystem. We will learn how do the living and nonliving things in an ecosystem interact? They will the relationships and cycles that exists in an ecosystem, learn how energy flows between organisms in an ecosystem. And further describe the characteristics of different biomes and aquatic ecosystem. Lastly, how ecosystem changes over time. Tests are scheduled for every Monday.
Social Studies: Student will begin with unit 2: “The Ancient World”: they will be able to learn about Greek Civilization, Alexander’s Empire, The Roman Republic, The Roman Empire, Ancient North Americas and Toltec, Aztec and Inca. Tests are scheduled for every Friday.
Tajweed:Students will continue memorizing Surah Infitaar ayats 21-29. Students will also be introduced to Ikhfaa and Izhaar rules.

Aqaaid: Istidraaj and the Auliya
Monday, December 17- Lesson 7-8
Fiqh: Wajibaat Salaat, rules concerning the wajibaat, and Sajdah Sahwu.
Thursday, December 20- Lessons 11-13
Akhlaaq/Adaab:The Quran and some of the major sins in Islam.
Wednesday, December 19-Lesson 8-9
Dua:Dua for protection against enemies.
Thursday, December 13
Minhaj-Ul-Arabiya:Students will begin recognizing interrogatory sentences, and sentences using prepositions.
Friday, December 7- (lesson 10)
Friday, December 14- (lesson 11)
Friday, December 21- (lesson 12)
Please kindly see that the students do revision daily, practice for their tests, and turn in their homework and projects on time.

Welcome to 5th Grade
Dear Parents and Students:
Assalaamalaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu!
May Allah(swt) forgive us, shower His (swt) bounties, accept our ibadath we did in the holy month of Ramadan, and guide us to the path He (swt) has chosen for us, Ameen!
Welcome back to school! I! I would like to take the opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Lubna Tazeen, and I’m honored to be your child’s Language Arts and Social Studies teacher. I am a graduate in Education and post graduate with Literature and Political Science as my major subjects. This is my third year of teaching at Guidance. I am very excited and look forward to working with you and your child in reaching her full potential.
My name is Amina Lakhi and I am looking forward to be your child’s Islamic Studies teacher this year. Curriculum areas we will focus on this year include Tajweed, Fiqh, Aqaaid, Aklaaq Adaab, Duas, and your child will be introduced to the kitaab Minhaaj-ul-Arabiyaa which will expand their Arabic vocabulary and alongside with that Arabic grammar will be greatly emphasized. I hope to make this academic year an educational as well as a fun-filled year for the students.
My name is Ifat Deriwala and I will be your child’s Math teacher.
This will be my first year at Guidance Education Academy. I am a recent graduate of DeVry University
in technical management and I have also done associate in early child care & development. I consider
myself very fortunate and privileged to be among such a professional faculties.
Let me take the opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Sadia Shafique. Inshallah I will be teaching Urdu, arts, and crafts. I am really excited about the opportunity to teach the arts class this year. This is my second year teaching at Guidance Educational Academy. I am a graduate in home economics, and I am looking forward to another productive school year.
