Assalaam Aliakum, I hope that you all are in the best of health and the strongest of Imaan. Alhamdulillah, we have progressed very smoothly through the first quarter and entered into second quarter. Everything is going according to the prepared schedule for this class so far, and we hope to continue our efforts to make this school year educational and enjoyable for our beloved students. Here is the overview of the lessons to be taught in the month of December:

TAJWEED: Surah Al-Ghashiyah ayahs #9-16 and Ghunna and Muqalqala rules of tajweed. Nazirah will be done on individual basis.Test: Tuesday, December 20, 2012

AQAAID:Lesson 4 “The Divine Books” and “Allah Protects the Qur’an”
Test: Friday,   December 14, 2012

SEERAH:Lesson 7 “The Battle of Uhud”Test: Wednesday,  December 19, 2012

FIQH:Lesson 9 “Tayammum” and Lesson 11 “Items on Which Tayammum is Permissible”Test: Tuesday,  December 18, 2012

AKHLAAQ & A’ADAAB:Lesson 5 In Front of the Mirror”Test: Thursday,  December 13, 2012

DUA:“Dua for Making Masah of the Head”Test: Monday,  December 17, 2012

URDU:Students will be learning “Walidain Ki Khidmat” and "Sardi" also revising “Mehnat may Barkat”. They will also be practicing writing and reading, along with learning the meanings of difficult words. Test: Every Thursday.

Language Arts and Reading: We will be continuing Theme 2: American Stories, Selection 3: Boss Plains, Selection 4: A very important day.  In Media link students will learn how to vote. In connecting and comparing they will learn about Amelia and Eleanor go for a ride, where they will focus on reading, vocabulary words, authors’ viewpoints, predictions, inferences, comprehension, structural analysis, and other activities.

Grammar/Writing:
This month, we will focus on developing the following grammatical skills: More Singular/ Plural Nouns, Possessive Nouns. The writing skills we will work on include Essay writing, Journal writing and Character sketch. *Test will be on Mondays.

  • Reading log has been given to the children, please make sure your child fills it up and returns it with your signature.

 

Mathematics: This month, we will be working on Volume 1, Unit 5: Big Numbers, Estimation, and Computation Lessons 5.1 – 5.12 .This portions will focus on extended multiplication facts, Estimation Sums, Products, Lattice multiplication, and comparing data. 
*Test will be on Fridays.

Science:
  • This month, we will be covering Unit C, Earth and its Resources Chapter 5 Shaping Earth. Lesson: 3 Weathering and Erosion. Lesson 4: Changes Caused by Weathering. Chapter 6: Saving Earth’s Resources Lesson1:  Minerals and Rocks. Lesson: 2 Soils. Lesson 3: Resources from the past. In this portion they will focus on weathering and Erosion, Minerals, and soil. *Test will be on Tuesdays.

  • Social Studies:
  • We are working on two books simultaneously; My World and Our Country and Its Regions. From the first book, we will be covering The South East, Lessons 1- 5. Then we will transition into the latter book and cover Unit 4, Lessons 1-3. The skills we will focus on developing are as follows: reading, discussion, vocabulary words, map skills, and question/answer. *Test will be on Thursdays.

Arts and Crafts: Every Friday, we will be doing a few arts & crafts projects. This month’s projects will be: Identifying Animals and Blottos.

Welcome to 3rd Grade

Dear Parents,

Assalamualaikum,                                                                                               

Welcome to the new school year!!!

         We hope and pray that Allah (SWT) accepts our Ramadan and all the Ibadaat we performed. May Allah allow this blessed month now past to leave a deep, resonating effect on us and give us hidayaat to change our lives for the better, Insha Allah. May Allah (SWT) shower His mercy and forgiveness on the Ummah and give us the guidance to gain the most out of this blessed month, Aameen.

          I am Mrs. Fatima Ahmed, your child’s Third grade Academic teacher. This is my third year teaching at the Guidance Educational Academy, and I hope to take everything I have gained through my previous experiences and build on them in order to bring forth a successful and fruitful year. Not only will we be learning many new things this year, we will also be creating a fun, safe, and exciting environment for our children.

            InshaAllah, student evaluation shall be a continuous process, during which social skills, work habits, and academic performance will be assessed and updates shall be provided.
