Welcome to 2nd Grade
Dear Parents or Guardians,
Assalamualaikum! Welcome to world of second grade at Guidance Educational Academy. My name is Mrs. Nur Hossain and I am excited about the wonderful possibilities for learning that await my class this year. Our first day of school is September 6th, 2011.
Second grade is an important time for the academic and social development of your children. I will be spending considerable time this year working to build on reading, writing, and math skills. In addition, I will be exploring science and social studies through reading, discussion and simple experiments. My goal is for each of my students this year to prompt students to explore their individual interests in these areas while improving their skills in all areas of the curriculum.
Each month, I plan to send home with your child a short newsletter describing what we are doing in our class. In addition, you may receive notes about important events or activities throughout the year as well as information from me about what you can do at home to help your child have the best possible experience this year.
I realize that teaching your child is a privilege, as well as a tremendous responsibility. I will do my best this year to ensure that each student has a motivating and safe learning experience in the classroom. However, I cannot do this alone: I need your help. We both need to be partners in the learning process. I need each of you to encourage your child at home by helping to ensure that they have completed their assignments, and help them study for quizzes, if necessary. I will keep you informed of all assignments and subjects that are covered in our second grade class.
I want to encourage you to contact me whenever you have any questions or concerns about your child in my class by calling the school office at 773-827-7264. Please leave a detailed message with your name and phone number and I will try to get back to you as soon as I can.
We have an exciting year ahead of us and I look forward to sharing your child’s experiences at school with you. Any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us at (773)764-8274 (Ext.3).
