Dear Parents and Students:

Assalamualaikum-Warahamtullahi-Wabarakatahu!

Assalamu’Alaikum Warahmatul-la’hi Wabarkatuh! Welcome to the school year 2012-2013. I hope that all of you will be in good health and Imaan by Allah’s grace and blessings. Let me take this opportunity to introduce myself.

My name is Asma Patel and I’m your child’s new first grade homeroom teacher. I’ll be teaching all the core subjects; i.e. Morning Routine/Journal Writing, Language Arts, Reading, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies to your child, Insha’Allah! This is my second year teaching at Guidance Educational Academy and I consider myself very fortunate to be a part of Rahmat-e-Alam Foundation. I’m a 2010 graduate from Northeastern Illinois University with the Bachelors degree in “Elementary Education” and with an endorsement in “Teaching English as a Second Language.”

Now, let me inform you about some of my important classroom rules. That is; homework will be given every single day in Math, Language Arts/Reading, and Science or Social Studies (optional) to students and I expect that you’ll cooperate with me in this case by making sure that you check your child’s homework folder every night and help him/her with the homework, if possible. Moreover, spelling test will be given every Friday and the spelling word list for that week will be given to students every Monday-Thursday, so that they’ll have continuous 4 days to practice these words. Furthermore, Reading/Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies tests will be given monthly (at the end of every month); while, math tests will be given bi-weekly (every two weeks).

Finally, please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions/concerns regarding your child or his/her academics at 773-764-8274 ext. 3; and if you need to talk to me in person then, PLEASE make an appointment with the office, in advance. Jazakallah-Khair!

Sincerely,

First Grade Teachers
